This dynamic program, hosted by a leading technology company, will offer a hands-on, engaging experience for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, immersing them in the world of engineering and technology.  As a Program Guide, you will be responsible for chaperoning and monitoring students both during the day and overnight.

This includes driving students to and from campus, leading weekend enrichment activities, and maintaining active supervision. The role requires physical stamina to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods while ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants.Dates: June 16 – August 8, 2025

Pre-Academy Responsibilities:


  • Complete required training sessions prior to the start of the Apple Maker Academy, which may be held virtually or in-person. This will ensure you're well-prepared for your role, including guidelines on student engagement and safety.
  • Work with the Activities Director and fellow program guides to help plan activities, establish schedules, and prepare materials for the program.

During Academy Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during all activities. Maintain a focus on creating an engaging, inclusive environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and learning.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering support when needed and helping them feel comfortable in a new environment.
  • Serve as a role model to students, offering mentorship and helping them navigate the challenges they may face during the program.
  • Assist in facilitating activities, ensuring students are actively engaged and gaining valuable skills. 
  • Help plan and lead weekly evening and weekend events or other enrichment activities designed to deepen the student experience and foster a sense of community.
  • Keep a close eye on student participation, performance, and safety during activities. Provide guidance and support to ensure that all students remain on task and engage fully in the program.
  • Provide timely updates and reports to the Activities Director and collaborate with fellow program guides to ensure a consistent experience for all students. Share any concerns or insights about academy progress or group dynamics.
  • Collaborate closely with other program guides to ensure effective supervision, smooth transitions between activities, and a unified approach to student engagement.
  • Assist with general academy operations, such as setting up spaces, managing supplies, ensuring equipment is ready for use, and addressing any issues that arise during activities.
  • Be flexible and proactive in adapting to changing student needs, new schedules, or unexpected challenges.

Post-Academy Responsibilities:


  • Participate in post-academy reflection and debriefing, sharing your feedback on what went well and any areas for improvement. This will help inform future iterations of the program.
  • Provide final reports to the Activities Director, summarizing the students’ progress, activities, and any issues encountered during the program.

Qualifications:


  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. 
  • At least 1 year of experience working with high school students, including roles such as a counselor, resident advisor, coach, youth mentor, educator, or similar. Additional plus if you have worked in a STEAM program or enrolled in a STEAM major at a college/university.  
  • Proven leadership abilities, demonstrating responsibility, reliability, and the ability to support and guide young individuals.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both students and colleagues. Additionally, you will be client facing (on the technology partner’s campus/headquarters) and interacting with those at the technology company.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, keep track of schedules, and assist with logistical needs.
  • Collaborative team player who is flexible and willing to take on responsibilities as part of a larger group.
  • Comfortable with technology, including using webcams, PC/Mac computers, and digital platforms (e.g., Keynote, WebEx, Slack, etc.). Able to troubleshoot basic tech issues.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid Certified prior to May 15, 2025; certification classes completed after hire will be reimbursed. 
  • Possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of students.
  • Must be able to occasionally stand and walk for long periods of time. 
  • Must be able and willing to lift and carry at least 40 lbs. 
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules and activities including holidays during the academy.
  • Room, board, and travel is included, must be willing to live in a dorm setting with limited or simple equipment and facilities.
