Director of Contracts


Company Overview:


ReconCraft is seeking a Director of Contracts thatoversee all aspects of contract management, ensuring the company’s contracts with governmental entities, including NATO members, are negotiated, executed, and managed in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong expertise in contract law, compliance, and the defense and maritime industries.

 Responsibilities:


  • Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Lead and manage the negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts with governmental entities, defense agencies, and international organizations such as NATO. Ensure all contracts align with company policies, legal standards, and industry regulations.
  • Contract Review & Compliance: Conduct thorough reviews of all contract terms and conditions, assessing risk and ensuring compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and financial requirements. Advise internal stakeholders on compliance and risk management strategies.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with legal, procurement, project management, and sales teams to ensure contract terms are understood and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle. Provide guidance on contract performance, changes, and disputes.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in contracts and provide strategies to mitigate these risks. Advise senior management on risk-related issues affecting contract execution.
  • Government & International Relations: Serve as the primary liaison for all contract-related communications with governmental clients, military entities, and international partners within the NATO alliance. Ensure contracts meet both domestic and international standards.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Track and monitor contracts through the lifecycle from negotiation to execution, ensuring deadlines, milestones, and deliverables are met in accordance with contract terms.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve any contractual disputes or issues that arise, working with legal counsel as necessary to protect the company’s interests.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with changes in contracting practices, regulations, and government procurement policies, particularly those impacting defense and maritime industries.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract management, with a focus on government contracts, defense procurement, and international agreements.
  • Strong understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement), and NATO contracting processes.
  • Proven experience with high-value, complex contracts involving government and defense sectors.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on legal and financial accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external clients.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with maritime contracts and defense-related manufacturing projects.
  • Knowledge of international trade laws, export controls, and government contracting in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Certification in Contract Management (e.g., CPCM, CFCM, or equivalent).
