What is the role?
dotCMS is currently seeking a Java Senior Support Developer. The Java Senior Support Developer performs both continuous development on our continually improving Long-Term-Supported (LTS) releases, and deep investigation and resolution of complex customer issues on the dotCMS platform. This position performs release builds, code investigation, bug fixes, backporting, and deep dives on technical issues, and provides both short- and long-term solutions to a wide range of technical problems.This isn’t a tedious position with a standard playbook – senior support developers work on new and complex issues, continually improving the product and code base to support sophisticated environments and use cases. What you’ll bring to the teamLead and manage a team of Product Support Specialists, including:
- Oversee the remote technical support for dotCMS software products and services
- Manage team workload and ensure tickets are responded to within required SLAs
- Mentor and develop team members' technical and customer service skills
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment
Ensure high-quality customer support, including:
- Review and approve complex technical solutions before they are sent to customers
- Handle escalated customer issues and manage high-priority accounts
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and support efficiency
Why we get excited about you
- At least 3 or 4 years of Java development experience; full-stack a plus
- 4+ years experience with web technologies including HTML and CSS; SCSS a plus
- 4+ years with front-end or back-end scripting languages; Javascript and Apache Velocity a plus
- Proven and demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with relational databases, cloud hosting environments, and containerization technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Outstanding organizational and communication skills
- Ability to speak and write English fluently
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field
Additional desirable experience
- Relational database administration; PostgreSQL a plus
- Developing on Linux; AWS Linux a plus
- Working with/within Docker containers; Kubernetes a plus
- Administrating cloud-hosted environments; AWS a plus
- Professional use of Version Control Systems; GitHub and Zenhub a plus
- Implementing Javascript libraries and frameworks such as jQuery, Angular, React, and Next.js
