QA Senior Manager

We are seeking a QA Manager to lead our onshore and offshore testing teams in ensuring the highest quality of our software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both automated and manual testing, experience managing distributed teams, and a proven ability to implement test strategies that align with business goals. This role will be responsible for overseeing test planning, execution, automation framework development, and collaboration with development, product, and business stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • QA Strategy & Process Implementation:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive QA strategies that incorporate both manual and automated testing approaches.
  • Define quality metrics to measure test effectiveness, software reliability, and overall product quality.
  • Implement industry best practices to improve testing efficiency, automation coverage, and defect prevention.

  • Automation & Continuous Integration:

  • Lead the design and maintenance of a scalable test automation framework for functional, regression, performance, and API testing.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Identify and implement automation tools best suited for the company’s technology stack.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Manage and mentor a distributed team of QA engineers across onshore and offshore locations.
  • Provide guidance on test automation best practices, functional testing methodologies, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to ensure seamless testing processes.
  • Conduct regular stand-ups, performance reviews, and training sessions to upskill the QA team.

  • Manual & Functional Testing Oversight:

  • Oversee the execution of manual testing for exploratory, usability, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ensure the creation and execution of detailed test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios based on business requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to clarify acceptance criteria, functional specifications, and edge cases.

  • Defect Management & Reporting:

  • Implement efficient defect tracking and resolution processes using tools like JIRA, TestRail, or ALM.
  • Provide detailed test reports and dashboards highlighting defect trends, quality improvements, and potential risks.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) processes to proactively mitigate recurring issues.

  • Offshore Coordination & Communication:

  • Act as the primary liaison between onshore and offshore QA teams to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Establish communication protocols and best practices for working across time zones.
  • Optimize resource allocation and workload distribution between teams to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must demonstrate strong communication skills (e.g. oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation)

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • 7-10 years in software quality assurance, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing both automated and manual testing.
  • Proven experience managing onshore and offshore teams in a global setup.

  • Testing Expertise:
  • Strong hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing of web, mobile, and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of functional, regression, performance, security, and API testing methodologies.

  • Automation & Tools:
  • Hands-on expertise in test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, or Appium.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms and tools like AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack, or Sauce Labs.

  • Database & API Testing:
  • Strong knowledge of SQL for database validation.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or Karate.
  • Defect & Test Management:
  • Experience using defect tracking and test management tools like JIRA, TestRail, ALM, or Zephyr.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills:
  • Strong ability to lead and mentor a distributed team of QA engineers.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional team engagement.
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe Agile environments.

     Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or k6.
  • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their testing strategies.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML-driven testing or RPA-based automation is a plus.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
