We’re seeking an HR Handbook & Compliance Specialist to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring our global organization’s adherence to all applicable employment laws. This role is perfect for someone who loves to dive deep into legal details, craft precise documentation, and ensure our employees have the information they need to succeed.
Responsibilities:
Handbook Development & Policy Writing:
- Lead the creation, revision, and maintenance of our employee handbooks, ensuring they are legally compliant, comprehensive, and user-friendly.
- Write and edit HR policies and procedures, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Develop and implement a system for managing handbook and policy updates, ensuring timely revisions and version control.
- Conduct thorough research to stay up-to-date on changes in employment law and incorporate those changes into our documentation.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Monitor and interpret changes in employment laws and regulations, providing timely updates and recommendations for policy adjustments.
- Conduct compliance reviews of HR documentation and processes to identify potential risks.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies (EEOC, DOL, etc.).
- Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and legal counsel regarding employment-related matters.
Auditing & Communication:
- Conduct internal audits of HR documentation to ensure compliance with policies and legal requirements.
- Develop and deliver training materials to HR team members and managers on relevant compliance topics and handbook/policy updates.
- Communicate complex compliance information in a clear and understandable manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, English, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in HR compliance, technical writing, or policy development, with a strong emphasis on handbook creation.
- Proven expertise in writing and editing employee handbooks and HR policies.
- In-depth knowledge of US employment laws and regulations (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEOC, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate legal requirements into practical documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with HRIS systems is a plus.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic.
