WHO YOU ARE:


As the most senior leader of the tax team, the Head of Tax is the first point of contact and the tax subject matter expert for all Company entities. The successful candidate should have a strong technical background in partnership taxation and general tax experience in state income and sales and use tax. The candidate will interact closely with the management team to review and document the tax implications of partnerships transactions and calculate and document the partnership adjustments for the tax filings, including the impacts to individual partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:


  • Calculate and maintain partnership adjustments, including waterfall calculations and partner tax basis tracking.
  • Lead tax due diligence as needed, including evaluation of tax purchase price allocations, and recording of tax accounting journal entries.
  • Coordinate preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and/or review tax workpapers to support tax filings (book/tax adjustments and reconciliations, state apportionment compilation, etc.).
  • Review, analyze, and recommend automation for calculating partnership tax adjustments and tracking differences in book and tax basis.
  • Calculate quarterly partner distributions, as needed.
  • Coordinate with other members of the Finance Group on:
  • Quarterly tax provisions, including related reporting disclosures and management reports;
  • Review of quarterly forecasted income tax projections and effective tax rates;
  • Maintenance of tax basis balance sheets and deferred tax inventory supporting schedules
  • Lead tax planning initiatives, research and document technical tax issues, e.g., draft technical tax memorandums on proposed transactions.
  • Monitor developments in applicable areas of tax law to determine the impact on the Company’s tax return position.
  • Oversee indirect tax processes and consult on related matters.
  • Manage and facilitate tax audits of Company entities and respond to tax notices.
  • Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment within the Tax/Finance Group.
  • Prepare income tax footnotes to be included in the Company’s annual financial statements.
  • Lead transfer pricing discussions and documentation as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related discipline/equivalent experience.
  • CPA and/or master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
  • 12-15 years of experience in public accounting or in a large corporate environment.
  • Strong technical background in review and preparation of partnerships.
  • Working knowledge of special allocations and capital accounts under Section 704.
  • Prior experience with M&A and related tax due diligence, a plus.
  • Knowledge of foreign branch taxation, a plus.
  • Prior experience with indirect tax, a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and GAAP audits.
  • Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite, a plus.
  • Proven ability to work independently to identify tax issues and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate and engage across the global finance organization to ensure alignment on strategic initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and auditors to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and presentation skills including advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams), with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to manage multiple work streams and adjust priorities as needed in a deadline-driven environment.
  • High attention to detail, pro-active, resourceful, well-organized, and possessing good time management.

The expected salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000, dependent on skills and location. The salary range is a good faith estimate based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive salaries that align with the individual’s skills, education, experience, training, and geographic location and may be above or below the stated amounts.
