Credit Specialist

Description


As a Credit and Collections Clerk at Concord Servicing, you will investigate and resolve credit report disputes submitted by consumers, ensure compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by thoroughly reviewing credit information, verifying accuracy, and addressing any discrepancies or potential errors related to a person's credit history. The Credit and Collections Clerk will communicate directly with consumers to understand their concerns and may handle cases involving alleged identity theft or fraud

Responsibilities


  • Review credit reports for disputed items, contact creditors to gather supporting documentation, and determine if the information is accurate according to FCRA guidelines
  • Gather accurate consumer financial information from internal systems, verifying its completeness and accuracy before submitting it to CRAs
  • Analyzing credit reports, identifying patterns, and utilizing credit reporting tools to investigate disputes
  • Communicate with consumers to understand the nature of their credit report disputes, explain the investigation process, and provide updates on the resolution
  • Identify and manage cases where consumers allege identity theft on their credit report, following proper protocols to protect sensitive information
  • Regularly review data quality metrics to identify potential errors and implement corrective actions
  • Utilizing specialized software to format and submit consumer data to CRAs in the correct standardized format
  • Stay updated on FCRA regulations and ensure the company's data-furnishing practices comply with legal requirements
  • Maintaining detailed records of all dispute investigations, including communication with consumers and creditors

Requirements


  • Familiarity with credit bureau reporting systems and data formatting standards
  • Proven experience as a Credit and Collections Clerk or similar role
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations and maintain professionalism
