About the Role


We are looking for an experienced Design Director to join our team. This role demands creative ideation, rapid iteration, and a love of craft and polish, giving feedback and mentorship to members of design staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of brand strategy and visual identity, with deep experience in seeing projects from conceptualization to final release as they will be responsible for shaping and maintaining Cohere's brand presence across various platforms.

Responsibilities


  • Help lead the creative and design process to help drive the direction and evolution of the Cohere visual identity.
  • Collaborate with the design team as well as outside stakeholders in marketing, and engineering.
  • Create novel but polished experiences through collaboration with internal teams and external creative partners.
  • Maintain and evolve the brand and its touchpoints including guidelines and visual assets.
  • Help shepherd the growth of the entire design team through mentorship.

Qualifications


  • 7+ years in design, art direction and/or creative direction, preferably in both startup and larger tech companies. Agency experience is a plus.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your design process, problem-solving skills, and the impact of your work.
  • Proficiency in modern design software including Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite line of products.
  • Experience in providing feedback and direction to creative partners including photographers, 3d artists, animators, illustrators, strategists, and copywriters.
  • Experience in directing strategists and copywriters also a plus.
