Life at Uphold

At Uphold, our mission is to create trusted access to digital money and financial services for the many. Since inception, we have fought to provide a fairer, easier and more affordable system. We favor speed, simplicity and ease of use over complexity. We put security and transparency first. Our commitment to transparency sets a new standard for the industry. Unlike banks, we are fully reserved: we hold assets to match our obligations and publish both in real time. Our industry is littered with systems and companies that put their interests before those of their customers. Countless individuals find their financial lives challenged by high barriers to entry, hard-to-use products, poor customer service and glacial transaction speeds. Today's emerging world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain-based assets is no different: access remains risky, complex and expensive. At Uphold, we constantly strive to solve these problems with elegant solutions that remove friction. Founded as Bitreserve in 2013, our original goal was to protect investors from cryptocurrency volatility by allowing them to instantly, securely and affordably move funds into Fiat currencies. This remains at the heart of what we do today.
