Core Responsibilities:
- Acts as the first level resource in troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving complex incidents for all aspects of end user systems software and hardware.
- Process payroll for employees in the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timely payments for all team members.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll inquiries, delivering clear and timely responses to ensure employee satisfaction.
- Review payroll data to ensure the timely and accurate processing of updates, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, etc.
- Facilitate tax setup for new hires, verifying that location-specific tax configurations are correct.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filing and reporting by preparing and submitting state and federal payroll taxes, as well as managing year-end reporting and W-2 distributions (for US) and T4s (for Canada).
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the audit process for payroll, 401(k), workers' compensation, and other internal and external reviews, ensuring all documentation is accurate and readily available.
- Manage RRSP plan for Canadian employees including enrollments, changes, reporting, etc.
- Assist in the accurate preparation of annual forms, including W-2s, 1099s, T2220s to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Manage expense reimbursement process, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about payroll regulations and changes in employment laws in both countries to maintain compliance.
- Support audits (internal and external) by providing necessary documentation and information as requested, ensuring a smooth review process.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as required by HR and finance, contributing to team objectives and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with specific experience in both U.S. and Canadian payroll.
- Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax requirements in both countries.
- Proficient in payroll software (e.g., ADP, BambooHR, Ceridian) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
