Learn more about our focus on our people on our YouTube Channel, Sandalwood Engineering & Ergonomics.We're currently looking for a Prototype Planning Engineer to join our growing team of engineering and ergonomics professionals helping our customers reduce their work-related risk to quality, productivity, and employee health. You will work as part of a team coordinating all aspects of engineering prototype build and test planning and execution for a major automotive OEM. Further details about the role are as follows: 

Responsibilities: 


  • Run daily Shop Floor Management meeting to highlight all actions needed on current outstanding prototype material and unit builds. 
  • Interface with Component Engineering and Material Management on missing parts for upcoming builds. 
  • Maintain powertrain component build process data in Build Status Tracking app. 
  • Communicate any parts discrepancies to appropriate departments. 
  • Information gathering and response coordination for supplier part quality issues. 
  • Execute standard departmental reports according to the review and publication cycle   
  • Create parts requests and move orders using the operational / MRP systems. 
  • Manage prototype component inventory for part quantities, supersessions, scrapping, goods receipts, and internal shipments. 
  • Assist in planning, execution, and documentation of post-test product teardowns 

Successful candidates will have the following attributes:


  • Experience in prototype manufacturing processes and protocols. 

  • Experience with automotive vehicle development, major vehicle and powertrain components, and commercial vehicles.  
  • Ability to establish priorities, work both independently and in team settings. 
  • A professional manner with excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization. 
  • Detail oriented self-starter who works well as a part of a diverse team. 

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline or proven experience.
  • Three years of engineering project experience in prototype / manufacturing environments. 
  • Familiarity with Material Resource Planning tools, such as SAP, and their use in an automotive OEM / Tier 1 environment. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid / majority on-site assignment. 
  • Legally authorized for work in the United States.
