About the role


The Technical Project Manager at WDG plays a key role in bridging development, account management, and project execution. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in open-source content management systems (WordPress, Drupal), and a strong technical acumen in managing digital projects.As a Technical PM, you’ll work closely with Lead Developers, Account/Project Managers to define clear, actionable technical roadmaps for enterprise-level websites and digital experiences. You’ll oversee development workflows, manage tasks, milestones, and quality assurance—while maintaining a seamless collaboration between WDG’s internal teams and clients.In addition to technical management, you will own a portfolio of full-lifecycle projects, retainers, and internal initiatives, while supporting the Account Management and Development teams with documentation, reporting, and process optimization.At WDG, we embrace a “roles over titles” mindset, meaning every team member has opportunities for growth beyond their primary responsibilities.

What you'll do


  • Development Workflow Management: Track and manage development tasks in Jira (or similar tools), ensuring efficient workflows and a seamless client experience.
  • Lifecycle Oversight: Manage projects from requirements gathering → development → quality assurance, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Define & Manage Technical Roadmaps: Collaborate with project leads to develop clear, actionable implementation plans for enterprise-level digital experiences with complex integrations and content migrations.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitate discussions with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure shared technical goals, scope clarity, and success metrics.
  • Technical Documentation: Work with Lead Developers to translate technical and UX requirements into comprehensive, client-friendly documentation.
  • Client & Internal Preparation: Organize agendas, presentations, and documentation for client engagements and internal meetings, ensuring all parties are aligned.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with leadership to enhance technical project workflows and best practices.

Qualifications


  • 3–5 years of experience in technical project management, product management, or business analysis in an agency setting.
  • Proven experience managing traditional (Waterfall) and hybrid (waterfall/Agile) projects across multiple clients.
  • Strong background in open-source CMS platforms, with a focus on WordPress (Drupal experience is a plus).
  • Experience documenting requirements for API integrations and complex content migrations.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and other project management tools.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Suite.
  • Bonus: CAPM, PMP, or Scrum Master certifications.
  • Bonus: Hands-on experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence).
  • Process-Driven & Self-Sufficient – Highly organized, disciplined, and accountable for deadlines and deliverables.
  • Client-Focused – Prioritizes user experience and client goals while advocating for WDG’s internal processes and resources.
  • Strong Communicator – Can adjust tone and delivery based on audience, explaining complex ideas in a simple, digestible way.
  • Collaborative – Encourages open discussions across teams and with clients to drive project success.
  • Calm & Decisive Under Pressure – Maintains composure in fast-paced environments while making thoughtful, inclusive decisions.
