Position Description:


Ardent is seeking a GIS Analyst - Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate is passionate about geospatial technologies and eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment. As a GIS Analyst - Developer, you will work closely with our senior developers and project managers to design, develop, and implement GIS solutions that address our clients' needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Assist in the design and development of GIS applications, tools, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain geospatial databases and data models.
  • Implement data visualization techniques to present spatial information effectively.
  • Conduct testing and debugging to ensure the reliability and performance of GIS applications.
  • Support the deployment and integration of GIS solutions with existing systems.
  • Stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and best practices.
  • Research new and innovative ways to capture, integrate, filter and display data from many different sources and methods.
  • Work with extremely short timelines.

Requirements: 


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or a related field.
  • 4+ years in a strong understanding of GIS concepts and principles.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
  • A strong background in geospatial technology, with expertise in metadata standards, ISO standards, and Survey123.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML) and spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with web mapping libraries/frameworks (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox, ArcGIS API for JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of geospatial analysis techniques and tools.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and GIS cloud services.
  • Previous experience or coursework in software development or GIS development projects.
