About the Job


Join our Data Center Infrastructure Services team as a Data Center Strategist, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our facilities. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Infrastructure, you will be instrumental in defining and executing strategies that shape the future of our facilities. Leverage your deep expertise in data center construction and operations to optimize our portfolio, drive cost-saving initiatives, and establish best practices across both existing facilities and new builds. 

What You'll Do


  • Strategic Leadership & Advisory: Collaborate with the VP of Infrastructure and senior leadership to steer data center strategies. Provide technical insights on emerging technologies, building designs, and retrofitting projects to ensure our facilities remain future-ready.
  • Data Center Evaluation & Vendor Collaboration: Assess new data centers for compliance with our operational standards. Work closely with providers to optimize power distribution, resource allocation, and overall efficiency.
  • Infrastructure Design & Lifecycle Management: Lead the design, deployment, and continuous optimization of data center infrastructure—focusing on power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental controls. Ensure all technology deployments are right-sized and comprehensively documented.
  • Operational Excellence & Troubleshooting: Champion best practices for maintainability and system performance. Provide expert troubleshooting support, lead after-action reviews, and implement remediation processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Customer Engagement & Thought Leadership: Serve as a customer-facing expert in data center technology, offering technical guidance and representing Lambda’s expertise to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Travel & Location: This role requires a willingness to travel up to 50%. It is ideally based in the Bay Area (SF or SJC), with remote work options available for the right candidate.

You


  • Extensive Industry Experience: Over 15 years in hyperscale data center environments, with a robust background in operating, designing, deploying, and optimizing critical infrastructure.
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in electrical and mechanical infrastructure for high-power compute environments, including cooling systems, power distribution, emergency backup systems, and BMS.
  • Operational Excellence: Proven success in implementing operational controls across multiple data center sites, particularly within large-scale campus and distributed portfolio models.
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in AutoCAD,BIM360, Revit, or other electrical/mechanical design and simulation tools.
  • Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects, ensuring initiatives are driven to completion under tight timelines.
  • Attention to Detail & Continuous Improvement: Highly detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to established procedures and a passion for ongoing professional development.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willing to travel as needed for the setup and optimization of new data center locations, up to 50%.
  • Educational Background: Holds a BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or possesses equivalent professional experience. 

Nice to have


  • Experience in data center commissioning and creating circuit coordination studies.
  • A track record of collaborating with auditors to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Prior leadership or managerial experience within a data center engineering and operations team.
  • Strong negotiation skills for design, build, and operations of data center spaces.

Salary Range Information 


Based on market data and other factors, the salary range for this position is $270,000-$404,000 However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
