We are looking for a Director of Engineering who will lead the engineering team through our next phase of growth – someone who is excited to set a bold vision, scale a high performing team, and build a cutting edge platform that powers the future of music technology. Reporting directly to the COO, you’ll collaborate closely with senior leadership to shape our strategy and advance our business. We’re looking for leaders who bring a fresh perspective and a passion for driving meaningful impact. 
Our tech stack is hosted on AWS, our backend consists of APIs built on Node.js services that primarily interact with MySQL, ElasticSearch, and DynamoDB. We manage a large analytics database hosted in Redshift. Our web frontend is written in functional React in TypeScript. We publish SDKs for iOS (Objective-C), Android (Kotlin), web (TypeScript), and React-Native SDKs.  We ingest large amounts of music and metadata via DDEX and work with numerous services for collecting and reporting rightsholder information.

In this role you will:


Shape and execute the technical vision for our products balancing short-term execution with long-term modernization.Direct the technical evolution of our flagship product to navigate tech debt and optimize content operations, while enhancing the customer experience to drive revenue and retention. Break ground on a new product, leading architecture and development on an innovative solution to serve emerging and untapped markets. Lead and mentor a top-tier engineering team fostering a high-performance culture that attracts and retains top talent. Define and implement best practices for code quality, CI/CD, testing, and deployment ensuring a stable and efficient development process. Develop and grow the team identifying gaps and bringing in the right talent to meet our evolving needs. Co-create a bold product and engineering vision in collaboration with the Product team, setting measurable outcomes that drive innovation and business impact. Drive planning and estimation, establishing a clear process for scoping engineering work. Stay hands-on when needed, providing technical guidance on architecture, code quality, and system design.

Your Expertise:


- 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of engineering management experience.- A proven track record of growing teams and elevating engineers, fostering technical excellence in fast-paced environments. - Strong expertise in content management, media rights, and streaming technology. Experience with licensing frameworks, metadata management, and scalable content delivery systems. -Deep technical acumen – you can review code, guide architecture, and ensure we’re building maintainable, scalable systems.- A bias for action - you thrive in a high-growth environment where speed, decision-making,  and impact matter.- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders and rally teams around a shared vision.- Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration - you work seamlessly with Product, GTM, Licensing, and other teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
