JOB SUMMARY
ISF is seeking a Data Engineer who can design and develop scalable data infrastructure solutions while sharing ISF’s engineering philosophy of reducing complexity and creating functional solutions in a straightforward manner. The ideal candidate deeply understands the fundamental concepts of data system design, implementation and maintenance and is eager to apply that knowledge to new tools, paradigms, and challenges. The candidate must be able to prioritize and solve for the client’s primary project objectives and develop creative solutions within project constraints.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Engineer will:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Develop and optimize data architectures for access, analytics and reporting.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance aligned with industry best practices.
- Consult with development teams to determine appropriate storage solutions for software development efforts, optimizing for cost, latency, and integration.
- Create end-to-end data pipelines to support model creation, data warehousing, real-time analytics, and machine learning.
- Implement data governance strategies, including data catalog creation, structuring data zones, process orchestration, monitoring, and alerting.
- Automate data workflows and improve data quality processes.
- Manage and optimize databases and cloud-based data platforms.
- Troubleshoot data-related issues and optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with analysts, developers, and business teams to understand data needs.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
- Relevant technical certifications are preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Primary Skills
- 10+ years of experience in data environments including data engineering or architecture.
- Experience with orchestration tools like AirFlow, Dagster, Prefect, Azure Synapse, or equivalent.
- Expertise in data ingestion and transformation tools such as SQL, Python, Spark, dbt, or equivalent.
- Experience developing solutions for cloud, hybrid, and on-premise and the ability to adapt to various customer infrastructures. Strong knowledge of ETL tools, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Self-motivated and proactive in seeking clarity and developing effective solutions.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to design and implement scalable data solutions.
- Proficiency in data modeling and database management.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
