Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Payable Management:
- Oversee the processing of member dues, vendor payments, and financial transactions.
- Implement and manage a streamlined, member-based billing system.
Operational Processes:
- Develop and implement efficient financial processes to improve tracking, reporting, and compliance across all entities.
- Create structured workflows for Group Exemption management and support resources for Chapters and stakeholders in completing their 990 obligations.
Fraternity Housing Corporation Accounting:
- Manage financial aspects related to the Fraternity and the Housing Corporation, including budgets, expenses, lease payments, and revenue collection.
- Prepare and monitor financial statements to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights on cash flow, revenue, and expenses.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Help develop annual budgets and financial projections by completing month end close process and accounts receivable tasks.
- Monitor budget performance and recommend adjustments as needed.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Maintain internal controls and accounting policies in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Manage audits, tax preparation, and external reporting obligations.
- Assist in tracking and managing Group Exemption compliance and Chapter 990 requirements.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, ideally within a nonprofit or association.
- Candidates should have sat for the CPA exam or be willing to do so.
- Experience in property or real estate accounting is a plus.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA is a plus but not required.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fund accounting principles.
- Experience with technology integrations and financial system implementations to improve efficiency and reporting.
- Experience with nonprofit accounting software preferred (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, Salesforce/Chapter Spot, Bill Highway).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
