Event Manager


Copper River Information Technology is seeking an
Event Manager to join our team!  The Event Manager willprovide Agencies with event management support for conferences held at locations in the U.S. and internationally. Work with the customer to determine facility, audio/visual and catering requirements and negotiate those requirements with hotel and other conference supporting vendors as required. Ensure conference requirements are met leading up to and during the conference event.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):


  • Plan events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives
  • Work closely with the sales team regarding event planning, facilitation, and execution
  • Serve as contract management liaison to clients ensuring complete execution of all agreements from start to finish
  • Communicate regularly with vendor event manager to ensure requirements are being met
  • Manage invoices
  • Review each event for lessons learned and apply to future events
  • Ensure formal approvals are in place, if we are required to exceed contractual agreements during the event
  • Advise on recommendations to ensure event success
  • Prepare and oversee budgets and ensure adherence
  • Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate all event operations
  • Lead promotional activities for the event
  • Supervise all staff (event coordinators, caterers etc.)
  • Approve all aspects before the day of the event
  • Ensure event is completed smoothly and step up to resolve any problems that might occur
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports

Essential Job Requirements:


  • Education:
  • Associate degree in a Business-related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
  • 5-8 years of experience as an event manager or direct experience in hotel management/operations
  • Skilled in project management
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation ability
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • A team player with leadership skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate both written and spoken with various levels of management, peers, and government
