Job Title: Software Engineer Architecture Team Lead


Job Location: Huntsville, AL / Colorado Springs, CO


Job Description


Must have an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance


Required Education/Experience:


Bachelor Degree in Math, Science, and Engineering or related discipline. MS desirable.  Possess a minimum of 10 years experience and a bachelor’s degree, (8 years with an advanced degree) in a related engineering environment, or equivalent experience.

Experience:


  • Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)  
  • Familiarity with the application and use of systems engineering tools for requirements management and Object-Oriented requirements definition (e.g., DOORS) 
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment with system, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions 
  • Experience using C2BMC processes and methods are desirable 
  • Engineering leadership, identification and definition of desired capabilities, fielding of new capabilities
  • System-of-system definition, integration practices and methods, communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
  • Agile Iteration Planning and Knowledge of C2BMC architecture and implementation is preferred
  • An understanding of systems engineering process and principles, and have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.

Required Skills:


  • Must understand systems engineering, architecture, systems design, development, and integration  
  • Experience in Ballistic Missile defense is highly desired
  • Should have previous experience working across organizations to define solutions
  • Analyze high level needs and using a structured and logical approach refine those needs into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product is desired
  • Lead/perform portions of the work and direct the activities of other systems engineers is also desired 
  • Work directly with multiple customer organizations and contractor organizations is a must 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings 

Desired Skills:


  • First line of leadership for all SE Architecture team members and reports to the SE Engineering Manager
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate metrics of team progress
  • Supports all team staffing responsibilities, including interviewing new candidates, dealing with team performance issues, and supporting team member growth and development
  • Expected to be technically competent in all of the work performed by the team such that they can acts a reviewer of product to ensure quality
  • Responsible for defining and ensuring compliance with SE Architecture team processes
