Summary
Pay Rate: $21.00/hour At Pace we transform girls’ lives through academic and counseling programs based on a gender-responsive, strength-based and trauma informed framework. Team members create a safe place for girls to learn, process, heal and begin again.The role of Instructional Paraprofessional involves providing direct instructional and caregiving support to students under the guidance of teachers. It entails adapting instructional programs to cater to individual student needs using various aids and equipment.

Additionally, the role includes supervising students in non-classroom settings, aiding in classroom preparation and organization.

Qualifications and Education Requirements


Required


·Associate degree or two years of study at an institution of higher education to include at least 60 semester hours of college credit·Basic computer skills·Current Florida driver’s license

Preferred


·Experience in an at- risk educational environment·Knowledge of state and school laws and policies

Role and Responsibilities


·Provides direct instructional support and care-giving services under supervision of teachers and staff.·Adapts instructional programs to fit individual needs of students, i.e., use of array of instructional aids and equipment. ·Assists teachers in supervising students in non-classroom settings such as lunchroom, playground supervision and bus arrival, dismissal. ·Provides direct assistance in preparation of classroom materials, assists in classroom arrangement and general clerical tasks.·Set up and organize files and manuals; count and alphabetize records; keep files up-to-date; distribute as needed.·Assists in monitoring compliance with IEPs and other student management systems.·Assists the teachers on regularly scheduled field trips.

·Participates in after-hours center activities to support girls, families, and the growth of the program.

·Must adhere to the Pace Center for Girls Values and Guiding Principles and upholds the ethical standards of the Agency·Follows mission, values and principles, policies and procedures of the Pace Center for Girls·Availability to work evenings and weekends as required to fulfill workload requirements·Must be able to travel by automobile, plane, train, etc.; occasional overnight travel may be required

  • The work environment characteristics can be stressful, is fast-paced and requires alertness and flexibility. The noise level is usually quiet; however, noise can accelerate to moderate and high levels. 

Life at Pace Center for Girls

PACE Center for Girls, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 corporation that provides a non-residential delinquency prevention program in locations statewide, targeting the unique needs of females 12 to 18 who are identified as dependent, truant, runaway, delinquent, or in need of academic skills. PACE (Practical Academic Cultural Education) accepts referrals from the juvenile justice system, the Department of Children and Families, school personnel, community services agencies, parents, family members, friends and self-referrals. Its purpose is to intervene and prevent school withdrawal, juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, substance abuse and welfare dependency in a safe and nurturing environment. PACE programs provide the following services: academic education, individualized attention, a gender-specific life management curriculum (SPIRITED GIRLS®), therapeutic support services, parental involvement, student volunteer service projects and transition follow-up services. Every girl at PACE sets individual educational and social goals that are focused on earning a high school diploma or GED, re-entering public school, attending college, getting vocational training, joining the military or the entering the private workforce. After program completion, PACE continues to monitor each girl's educational and personal development with three years of follow-up case management. PACE operates 16 centers throughout Florida a reach program, and pre-teen centers (girls ages 8-11) in Broward and Manatee Counties. Since it's creation in 1983 PACE has served over 17,000 girls.
