SUMMARY:
The Customer Data Steward plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of customer and patient data. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining customer data records, implementing data governance best practices, and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with laboratory teams, IT, compliance officers, and external stakeholders to streamline data management processes, reduce errors, and enhance data quality for improved patient diagnostics and customer interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Certifications in data governance, compliance, or healthcare data management (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional - CDMP) are a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related role in a healthcare, laboratory, or clinical environment.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, CAP, CLIA) governing patient and laboratory data.
- Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), CRM platforms, and data visualization tools.
- Experience with data quality management, audits, and compliance reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and update customer and patient data in laboratory information systems (LIS) and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across all systems.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in customer and patient data.
- Connect with customers to find and verify any missing information
- Develop and enforce data entry standards, validation rules, and quality controls.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulations related to patient and customer data.
- Collaborate with compliance and IT teams to conduct regular data audits and risk assessments.
- Work with laboratory teams to ensure proper linking of customer and test data for accurate reporting.
- Support the development and maintenance of data governance documentation, policies, and training materials.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
