omni-channel marketing efforts: ie; email, SMS, CRM triggered events and other backend marketing channels.
This role focuses exclusively on
monetizing and retaining existing customers and subscribers through strategic campaigns, segmentation, automation and performance analysis. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, data-driven, and experienced in optimizing backend marketing strategies to increase customer lifetime value (LTV) and maximize revenue.
Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and optimize revenue-driving email and SMS campaigns.
- Manage a team of internal/monetization marketers.
- Implement segmentation, automation, and personalization strategies to enhance engagement and conversions.
- Own the retention and renewal strategies for newsletter subscription and supplement renewal offers.
- Manage marketing calendars to ensure timely execution of promotions, product launches, and re-engagement efforts.
- Analyze performance metrics (open rates, CTR, CR, AOV, revenue/M mailed, churn rate) and make data-driven decisions to improve results.
- Set goals and KPI’s for all monetization efforts.
- Work closely with copy, editorial, creative/production, customer service and internal/external marketers to ensure messaging, offers, and timing align with business objectives.
- Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, swipe and promo copy, send times, offers, etc... to continuously improve campaign effectiveness.
- Oversee compliance with email and SMS regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, TCPA) to maintain deliverability and engagement.
- Identify new opportunities for revenue growth, including upsell, cross-sell, and reactivation strategies.
- Maintain and improve workflow processes using CRM and project management tools
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of proven direct response experience in backend marketing (email, SMS, retention marketing, or e-commerce).
- Experience managing a team of marketers, and able to communicate with company stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of email and SMS platforms (ie; Salesforce, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Iterable, Attentive, Postscript, Twilio, etc).
- Must be a testing connoisseur. Cannot be afraid to take risks, fail quickly and scale winning tests/ideas.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret and act on analytics.
- Experience with segmentation, automation, and A/B testing to drive engagement and revenue.
- Proficiency in Asana, Jira, or other project management tools.
- Strong copywriting and messaging optimization skills are a plus.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, aligning marketing efforts with business goals.
- Familiarity with direct response marketing and customer lifecycle strategies.
- Experience with Telesales marketing is a plus
