Systems Operations Engineer

Job Summary:


This position will be a technical resource for the daily operations and maintenance of a CSfC solution for a Federal Client in Quantico, VA. This role will be a Tier 2 role that requires an operational background supporting server infrastructure & enterprise services. This will be a primarily Window’s and VMware based compute environment. This position will require troubleshooting, analytical skills, as well as the ability to work well with a team. Technologies deployed within the solution include platforms such as VMware vSphere, Window/Linux Servers, PKI Infrastructure, Cisco Firewalls & IPS/IDS, Aruba vMC, and other logging, monitoring, and security solutions.

This role will be customer facing and embedded within the Client’s secure location, so a professional approach to troubleshooting, operational security, and resolution of end-user tickets is paramount.

Duties/Responsibilities:


• Administration of network services, servers, hypervisors, appliances and supporting server resources to ensure availability of services to authorized users• Perform systems level, updates, and disaster recovery operations• Perform installation and configuration of network and server systems hardware and software.• Perform testing and create documentation to report systems status and support operations.• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other services and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.• Monitor server performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.• Collaborate on a multi-disciplinary team of Software, Test, Network Engineering, and Operations staff.

Required Qualifications/Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT related discipline, or equivalent related technical experience is required.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering or Systems Administration role is required
  • An active Federal TOP SECRET Security Clearance with SCI eligibility, and ability to take and pass CI Polygraph is required.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal required) and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.
  • Current Active IAT Level 2 Qualifying Cyber Security Certification (Sec+, CySA+, CISSP, etc.) is required.
  • Direct hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and securing typical services such as: ADDS, WSUS, DNS, NTP, etc. is required.
  • Prior experience supporting virtualized compute infrastructure, VDI, and storage appliance is required.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:


  • Current Active Professional Certifications (Microsoft, Linux, RHEL, AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Prior experience  Samsung EMM/KLM for mobile Device Management is a plus.
  • A working knowledge or experience with systems and security tools such as: ACAS (Nessus), Veeam, IQ-Core, Stratodesk, Trellix ePO, Splunk, and IIS Web Servers is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Automating of server deployments, processes, provisioning is a plus.
