Position Overview
Carbon Upcycling Technologies (CUT) is seeking an Owner’s Representative to oversee the construction of our first commercial scale plant within an existing cement facility near Mississauga, Ontario. This role will ensure site safety, proactively address emerging issues, and support project turnover and close-out activities.Key responsibilities include maintaining clear and timely communication with both Civil and General Contractors, while providing regular progress and cost updates to the CUT management team.This is a10-12-month contract position, starting as soon as possible, with the potential for extension or future opportunities with CUT at other locations.

The position is contract/hourly, with an estimated 20-40 hours per week, depending on the construction phase. Some weekend or after-hours site attendance may be required for specific activities.The ideal candidate will be local to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and available for regular on-site visits in Mississauga.Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of construction management on behalf of the owner, including project controls, daily supervision, weekly safety audits, and RFI management.

  • Supervise and actively participate in daily field construction activities, meetings, and reviews, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

  • Direct and oversee general contractors to ensure construction activities adhere to project specifications, safety standards, and schedules.

  • Manage RFIs efficiently to prevent delays and ensure continuous contractor productivity.

  • Coordinate work with specialty contractors and visiting client representatives to maintain project alignment.

  • Assist in developing the mobilization plan, maintaining the Level 4 schedule, reviewing Construction Work Packages (CWPs), and evaluating general contractors' construction plans, procedures, rental equipment forecasts, and field execution strategies.

  • Monitor costs, rental equipment usage, material preparation, work front availability, and three-week lookahead schedules to ensure smooth operations.

  • Track daily activities, audit manpower, and approve Labor Equipment and Material (LEM) reports as required.

  • Review general contractors' daily work permits and coordinate with the site owner as needed.

  • Provide regular reports on construction progress, manpower projections, and expenditure forecasts.

  • Lead and participate in site meetings, including safety meetings and daily toolbox talks.

  • Facilitate progress meetings and contractor coordination discussions to ensure alignment and issue resolution.

  • Conduct field walkdowns and audits for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), ensuring corrective actions are implemented for a safe and clean worksite.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years construction supervising and project management experience.

  • Construction experience in a cement, potash, or similar heavy industry-mineral processing environment required

  • Knowledge and understanding of construction site health and safety practices ina cement, potash, or similar heavy industry-mineral processing environment required

  • Solid understanding in multi-discipline construction operation, with demonstrated experience in civil foundation installation, mechanical equipment installation, cranes/rigging,and electrical installation.

  • Mechanical or Electrical trades certificate or diploma is an asset.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to read engineering drawings, construction work packages,schedulesand guide contractors to execute them according to plan & specification.

  • Valid driver’s license, Standard First Aid, MS Office (Word, Excel & Project)
