We're looking for a talented and experienced individual with a passion for coding, who enjoys learning about the latest technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and a user-focused approach to software development.

As a Software Developer you will be responsible for building and deploying high quality software solutions while working in a fast moving product development lifecycle. You will continually be involved in mentorship and coaching activities ensuring you and your team are delivering at the highest level.

The ideal candidate will embody our values and culture, and be a steward of The Way of the Helcim (see link below to our culture book).Here are the things you’ll own day to day:Development: Be a key member of the mobile development team, understanding and translating product requirements into deliverables, following the best practices of software development. Write clean & tested code and deliver it as per project commitments with minimal escaping defects/issues.Mentorship & Growth: Train and provide mentorship to junior talent to help them grow their careers.

Assist in recruiting and hiring talent.Collaboration: Work in a highly collaborative environment with cross-functional teams (Product/DevOps/Stakeholders/Design).DevOps & Automation: Build Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines through GitLab to increase automation. Work to ensure the reliability of systems using the Elastic Stack for observability.Process Improvement: Be on the lookout for ways to improve our development processes. Be a role model for high engineering standards.Deployment & Maintenance: Deploy code through the Apple/Google Play Stores. Deploy and maintain projects through cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.Data Analysis: Easily discover new insights through our BigQuery Data Warehouse.A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE HAS; 

  • 4+ years of experience in mobile app development (Android/iOS).
  • Bachelor's degree, technical degree, bootcamp, or other certifications in computer programming, computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Kotlin-Jetpack compose and/or Swift-Swift UI. Candidates must be open to learn the other platform on which they are not proficient.
  • Strong understanding of mobile app architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture).
  • Experience with mobile development tools and frameworks (e.g., Android Studio, Xcode).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline creation, deployment, Android/iOS release publishing, and the app store approval process.
  • Experience with Docker, MySQL or other SQL database systems.
  • Willingness to participate in a rotational on-call roster for critical production issues.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in developing apps with iOS and Android.
  • Familiarity with UI styling libraries like Tailwind CSS.
  • Knowledge of backend technologies (e.g., PHP).
  • Experience with testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  •  A portfolio of published mobile applications.
  • Experience with any 3rd party sdk integration. 
  • Experience with any public cloud systems (Google cloud, AWS, Azure).
