Position Snapshot


Range is looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will support our engineers by creating mechanical and electrical designs that are critical to our technical and manufacturing progress. This role will require a wide breadth of knowledge of all aspects of mechanical engineering including mechatronics. Inside the Role:


  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD layouts and drawings which meet the system technical requirements and can be produced by internal and external suppliers
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to understand design requirements and ensure accuracy and functionality in all system designs and drawings
  • Participate in design reviews to receive and offer critical constructive feedback and recommendations on design improvements
  • Organize CAD files by creating a BOM in PLM software to clearly communicate design intent internally for engineering validation and externally to suppliers for mass production
  • Contribute to the development of supplemental design documentation such as assembly instructions, test reports, and cost analysis
  • Assist in the development of prototypes by working with in house fabrication and technicians to help build your designs with your own hands
  • Verify your design by simulation and test with support from internal and external test engineers and labs

The Must Haves:


  • Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in job related experience
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 or V6 and FEA simulation software
  • Ability to create, interpret, and build simple electrical circuit and wiring diagrams
  • Demonstrated successful track record of design ownership of a complete mechanical system from start to finish
  • Attention to detail when creating 2D and 3D layouts and drawings
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and business functions
  • Ability to work on-site in a dynamic environment, with hands-on involvement on the build floor

Bonus Points:


  • Leadership experience in collegiate level student design competitions
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in an engineering environment
  • Familiarity with automotive engineering standards, manufacturing technology, and electric vehicles
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a fabrication shop using machine tools

Other Requirements:


  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment and components. Comfortable with occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing as required for infrastructure maintenance
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required for training, pilot support, conferences, or to support remote office locations
  • While we appreciate the importance of schedule flexibility, it's essential to note that the nature of this role necessitates a regular and consistent onsite presence

Range Energy’s compensation package includes a competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and a generous benefits package. The salary range for Mountain View, CA based applicants is between $150,000 - $200,000 annually. The total compensation will be determined based on multiple factors including domain knowledge, experience and location.---Range Energy participates in E-Verify in the United States.
