Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist engineering department employees responsible for the development and design of custom mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control systems including electrical and electronic integration of components. Conduct feasibility studies of customer requests; develop preliminary designs, cost and delivery estimates, complete quotations and proposals for customers regarding technical questions and/or sales of systems or components. Provide technical support to project engineers, project managers and distribution outside sales force in establishing application and design requirements.
- Responsible for the overall profitability of the engineering department. Responsibilities to include: development, implementation and improvement of business operating procedures and processes concerning the engineering department; coordination of activities associated with the interfacing between the engineering and fabrication departments;
- Identification, prioritization and assignment of resources associated with the design and fabrication process; generating engineering and fabrication labor estimates, reviewing labor estimates against actual performance, overseeing new product development, review of department monthly financial and operational performance statements, implementing corrections as required; general engineering supervision required in developing and manufacturing custom mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control assemblies.
- Assign and directly supervise the activities of the Project Engineers and CAD operators. Monitor and follow up to assure adequate performance. Supervise, monitor and assist electrical project engineers in performing the duties required to develop and design custom electrical/electronic control panels. Supervise, monitor and assist the hydraulic project engineers in performing the duties required to develop and design custom hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Plan and review jobs with manufacturing prior to release.
- Establish and maintain engineering design and review schedule to provide the necessary time required for the purchasing and fabrication schedules. Work closely with the Material / Production Coordinator and Production / Inventory Manager in maintaining the production schedules. Establish engineering schedules in response to customer requirements and vendor response to assure production schedules are maintained.
- Assist in the designing and manufacturing coordination of Hope Air Systems skid packages and The Hope Group Distribution fabricated assemblies. Develop preliminary designs and cost estimates for secondary assemblies and fabrication labor.
- Interview and hire new employees in area of responsibility, act on recommendations for transfers, termination’s, etc. Handle grievances and complaints in accordance with established procedures. Follow and interpret company policies, rules and regulations for employees. Maintain discipline, morale and good employee relations.
- Support The Hope Group Business Management System [BMS] procedures and work instructions by following established processes and supporting their continual improvement.
- Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or as position responsibilities necessitate.
