Job Description:

 Serve as a Senior Academic Instructor and Subject Matter Expert supporting the 705th Training Squadron (705 TRS). The 705 TRS serves as the focal point for advanced Air Operations Center (AOC) and Air Force Forces (AFFOR) education and command and control (C2) process improvement.  The squadron’s primary mission is to train AOC and AFFOR staff members of Air Component headquarters, including joint and allied partners.   

Responsibilities:


  • Provide instruction and mentoring for advanced command and control courses
  • Complete the 705 TRS internal training and evaluations to maintain currency and certification in accordance with (IAW) the 705 TRS Instructor Certification Program Procedures.
  • Ensure course materials are current prior to each instruction event; prepare classrooms for instruction; operate training equipment; issue required student courseware; issue and grade tests; observe student planning exercises and provide feedback on student performance; develop, review, and respond to end-of-course critiques of academic instruction; develop, execute, or support a comprehensive graduate evaluation plan used to determine academic instruction effectiveness, based on student and supervisor feedback gained during practical field experience
  • Contribute to quarterly courseware reviews and the updating of courseware
  • Participate and observe Air Force Component Headquarters exercises and joint operational warfighter exercises
  • Participate and support senior-level academics and senior-level developmental seminars and summits
  • Directly interface with senior executives (GS-15 – SES) and General Officers (active duty and retired)

Requirements


  • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years of US military experience with specific air component experience with demonstrated ability to instruct in a military environment; it is preferred that instructors have at least one year of previous platform instruction
  • Air Component Headquarters assignment as a field grade officer; staff assignment in a leadership role (Branch, Division, Directorate) for a Major Command or Joint Force Command or Service Headquarters / Joint Staff experience
  • Training and Instructor experience with career history in at least one of the following roles: Weapons Instructor Course (or sister service equivalent) with follow-on assignment as an instructor/evaluator; PME faculty; Advanced Study Group (e.g., SAASS, SAMS, JAWS, etc.) with follow-on assignment; AETC Master Instructor; assignment to a combat training organization such as Air Advisor Academy, Joint Enabling Capability Command, MCTP / OCTP (Highly Qualified Expert-Senior Mentor advisor), C2WAC, or similar role with foreign national militaries
  • Proficient with multimedia operations required for instructional briefings, presentations, and exercise activities. This includes the knowledge, skill, and ability to develop and present graphics data and information for various audiences
  • Ability to travel to various locations within and outside the continental United States in performance of the tasks
  • Desired:
  • 20+ years of military operational experience as a rated officer, intelligence community professional, cyberspace officer, Special Operations Force officer, or space operations officer, with five years as a senior officer (GS-14/15, Colonel)
