Summary
The Senior Operations Finance Manager is a visible role providing support to Commercial, Operations, and Finance leaders. This position requires an ability to be adaptable to fast changing business/operational conditions, while providing timely and accurate analytics and reporting management. Strong cross-functional collaboration, ability to influence across the organization as well as possession of outstanding analytical skills are required. The candidate needs to have an in-depth knowledge of Cost Accounting concepts, inventory, absorption, variances, gross margin, applicable US GAAP accounting standards and manufacturing acumen.
This individual collaborates and works closely with Business Partners to achieve quarterly and annual operating targets, continuous process improvement and cost savings initiatives to drive quality and efficiency performance, margin improvement and strategic planning. This position will report directly to the Vice President, Accounting. It will also have a lot of visibility within the organization including participating in weekly dashboard calls with the executive team where we track progress towards quarter-end targets and potential road-blocks preventing their achievement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a financial business partner bridging the Finance and Operations teams. Build relationships and supporting the achievement of site priorities and key objectives (25%).
- Manage month-end financial close activities and reporting. Includes, tracking, booking, reporting, and sharing financial performance on standard costing, Inventory, CapEx, royalties, warranties, material variances, manufacturing absorption and efficiencies, with Business Partners on a timely manner (15%).
- Proactive involvement with the operations for decision-making related to product profitability, cost improvement initiatives, GAAP issues, COGS departmental spending analysis and scenario planning (15%).
- Serve as SOX business process owner over business processes relating to your assigned areas (10%).
- Lead the development and management of annual operating plans for manufacturing spend, gross margin, OpEx, and CapEx (10%)
- Perform standard cost roll, including develop cost standards for materials, overhead and labor rates and design and implement cost accounting systems (5%).
- Oversee physical inventory counts, coordinating inventory cut-off testing, and serve as liaison for external audits (5%).
- Maintain cost accounting system and cost ledger, reconciling quarterly E&O and NRV balances (5%).
- Assist in the preparation of SEC filings and interface with external auditors as needed (5%).

Required Skills and Abilities
- Highly motivated, self-starter who manages projects end-to-end and has a demonstrated track record of getting results, organization, and prioritizing deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of cost accounting principles, operations finance, and how these relate to the Financial Statements (i.e. income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statements).
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to build good working relationships and to collaborate with all levels of management.
- Exceptional analytical ability with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience developing financial models.
- Experience streamlining manual processes and implementing automation, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex issues in a simple manner.
- Demonstrates grace under pressure with a good sense of humor and dose of humility.
- Familiarity with SOX requirements advantageous
Education, Certifications, Licenses
- Education (Level and field of study) required/ preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
- Years relevant/ total work experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in Cost Accounting or in an Operations Finance role required.
