System Administrator

As a System Administrator
at Kitware, you will be part of a team supporting critical infrastructure used by Kitware's research and development engineers and support staff. The infrastructure includes Linux servers, VMWare vSphere, AWS, Microsoft Active Directory, and client hardware running Windows, Linux, and MacOS. The position is primarily on-site.

In This Position You Will:


  • Support server infrastructure (primarily Linux/Ubuntu with some Windows).
  • Support device management tools (Active Directory/JAMF/Puppet).
  • Support desktop and laptop computers (Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X).
  • Support mobile devices (Android, Apple iOS, ChromeOS).
  • Provide support for cloud-computing services (AWS).
  • Support virtual infrastructure (VMWare/VSphere).
  • Maintain backup infrastructure (VEEAM).
  • Configure networking including firewalls, wireless, VPN tunnels, and VLANs.
  • Make recommendations on new system purchases (end-user and infrastructure).
  • Perform upgrades to hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Manage Storage Area Network (SAN)/storage resources.
  • Maintain documentation in support of new technologies and applications.

Required Qualifications:


  • A bachelor's or associate's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Linux system administration and Active Directory management.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Experience working with software developers.
  • Familiarity with security/compliance frameworks.
  • Understanding of network administration.
  • Due to contractual requirements, this position requires US Citizenship, and a willingness and ability to obtain, use, and maintain a security clearance.

$80,000 - $100,000 a year
