This role involves implementing advanced welding techniques, ensuring high-quality welds, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize welding processes for cell assembly, including laser welding, resistance welding, and ultrasonic welding.
  • Establish welding parameters to achieve high-quality, consistent welds with minimal defects.
  • Evaluate and select welding equipment, tools, and materials to support production needs.
  • Develop and maintain welding standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Conduct welding inspections and quality checks, utilizing non-destructive testing (NDT) methods when necessary.
  • Implement corrective actions to address welding defects and process deviations.
  • Analyze welding process data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Lead and support lean manufacturing and Six Sigma projects to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Work closely with design, quality, and production teams to address welding-related challenges.
  • Provide training and technical support to welding technicians and operators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in welding engineering, preferably within EV or automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience with cell assembly processes and battery module manufacturing is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in welding techniques such as laser welding, resistance welding, and ultrasonic welding.
  • Knowledge of welding standards (e.g., AWS, ISO) and NDT methods.
  • Familiarity with CAD software, welding simulation tools, and automation systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving around the manufacturing or fabrication floor.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching to inspect welds and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Manual dexterity to operate welding equipment, tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Occasional work in confined spaces and at varying heights using ladders or lifts.
  • Good vision, including close-up work, color differentiation, and depth perception to assess weld quality and read blueprints.
  • Tolerance to exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and industrial environments while adhering to safety standards.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and respirators if necessary.
