Manufacturing Maintenance Intern

The Summer Maintenance Intern will work closely with the Maintenance team to support the Petersburg Site's spare parts inventory setup and auditing program, assist with creating and updating equipment master bills of materials (BOMs), and troubleshoot technical issues. This is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate or postgraduate student to gain practical experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment and learn about the how maintenance teams play a critical role in the success of production.Requirements · Site Spare Parts Inventory Setup and Auditing Program:· Assist in setting up a structured spare parts inventory system for the Petersburg Site.· Participate in the auditing of spare parts inventory to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.· Work with the team to streamline inventory processes and improve spare parts tracking.· Petersburg Site Equipment Master Bill of Materials (BOM):· Help create and maintain accurate equipment master BOMs for critical production equipment.· Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that all parts, components, and materials related to equipment are properly documented and categorized.· Ensure that BOMs are up-to-date to support maintenance activities and ensure quick access to parts when needed.· Miscellaneous Technical Troubleshooting:· Provide support to the maintenance team in troubleshooting technical issues with equipment and systems across the site.· Assist with identifying root causes of equipment failures and support corrective actions to minimize downtime.· Participate in hands-on problem-solving and contribute to enhancing the reliability of site operations.· Collaborative Support:· Work closely with the operations department to understand and mitigate challenges that are causing production issues.· Team with maintenance engineer, maintenance technicians, process engineers, and external consultants to solve issues and drive process improvements.· Assist in preparing reports and documentation for internal audits and compliance checks.· Support the development and implementation of maintenance best practices to ensure efficient site operations.

Qualifications:


· Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program (preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field).· Strong interest in industrial maintenance, and technical troubleshooting in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.· Basic understanding of spare parts inventory management, equipment documentation (BOMs), and procurement processes. · Ability to read process piping diagrams and electrical schematics is a plus.· Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a plus.· Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.· Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.· Detail oriented and organized.· Prior experience or coursework in maintenance systems, operations, or procurement is beneficial but not required.· Need to work in person.

Physical Requirements


· Lifting Requirements: The ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds routinely. This includes tools, equipment, and materials used in the chemical processing operations.· Mobility and Flexibility: The job requires frequent reaching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing. Must be able to walk, stand, and climb stairs or crossovers for extended periods.· Endurance: The position demands the ability to work in various positions such as walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged durations.· Environmental Conditions: The work environment may include exposure to indoor factory conditions and outdoor environments with varying temperatures.

Must be able to work in these conditions and handle exposure to chemical environments and high noise areas.· Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Operators/maintenance must be willing and able to wear various types of PPE, including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing, as required by the job to ensure safety in potentially hazardous conditions.· Manual Dexterity and Physical Stamina: The job involves operating tools and machinery, requiring good manual dexterity and physical stamina to handle the rigors of chemical processing and equipment handling.

Working Conditions


Workplace includes areas where chemical materials are encountered. May involve exposure to a variety of chemical environments and high noise areas. Must have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to use a variety of personal protective equipment.
