SUMMARY: The Contracts Budget Analyst will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and maintenance of budget templates for sponsored clinical trials. This role includes comparative reviews against budgets offered by study sponsors, creation of budgets based on schedules of assessments, and review of contractual terms. The analyst will work collaboratively with Site Financial Analysts, business development, contracts, study build team and internal finance groups while managing a large volume workflow across multiple research programs.RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop study budgets from clinical study protocols using various software tools, primarily Excel.
- Cross department collaboration to develop or prepare grant budgets for industry-sponsored clinical trials.
- Participate in negotiations with industry sponsors and CRO's to process new and amended clinical trial budgets.
- Analyze sponsors' budget proposals to determine if the proposed funding is adequate to cover costs associated with trials depending on their complexity, the frequency of patient visits, and the reporting requirements.
- Analyze budgets across therapeutic areas, sponsors and delivery lines to ensure consistency and maximize pricing.
- Enforce standard pricing thresholds and obtain required approval levels for pricing exceptions.
- Counter proposals if required and finalizes budgets with the sponsor.
- Communicate with Site management and sponsors to integrate budget information into clinical trial agreements and participate in the contract negotiation process.
- Participate in the administration of study-related billing and support the auditing of billing records.
- Set up study payment milestones and billing instructions grids using Microsoft Excel and/or Elligo’s clinical trial management system.
- Work closely with Study Build team to ensure accurate transition of grant budget details.
- Ensure a quick turnaround time to complete budgets and activate studies in a timely manner to meet industry standards.
- Establish and promote positive working relationships within the organization and with external institutions involved in clinical research.
- Gain and demonstrate general knowledge of all the site services Elligo offers.
- Excel at effective customer communication.
- Assist in the Finance/Accounting Department on an ad-hoc basis, in particular during the month-end accounting close process.
- Make recommendations and implement improvements to all processes and systems as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of company information as appropriate.
- Provide requested information as needed for internal and external audit requests.
- Provide reports as requested by Finance Executives, Directors, and Managers.
- Accurately input and update information in Salesforce.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Superior proficiency with Excel
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of contracts and grant budgeting for clinical trials
- Proven experience in developing grant budgets for clinical trials.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey ideas and information clearly and concisely
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to complete tasks, responding to departmental and client requests.
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills with the ability to build and foster trust.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and be flexible to shifting priorities.
- Highly detail oriented with the ability to review data and make relevant decisions and/or recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational/prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software (MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint), and Salesforce.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or similar educational background.
- Three or more years of professional experience with contracts and/or budget development
- Three or more years of clinical research experience preferably in a contract research organization.
