Management Controls Inc. (MCi) is excited to welcome a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with deep Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps expertise to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a unique combination of skills that include DevOps practices and strong experience as an Azure Cloud Administrator. This role will focus on automating and optimizing our infrastructure using modern DevOps tools to ensure our systems' reliability, security, and performance. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams (Developers, QA, DBAs, Networking, Security, NOC, and Cloud Administrator) to support and improve cloud-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring solutions in an Azure environment.The business is privately held, has been around for 30 years, services most of the Fortune 100, and is experiencing exponential growth, which will last into the next decade.

Management Controls is headquartered in Houston, TX with a hybrid schedule 3 days in-office and 2 days working from home / week.


Duties and responsibilities:


Azure Infrastructure Management:


  • Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure using Azure services (VMs, Azure App Services, AKS, Azure SQL, VNET, etc.)
  • Optimize resources to ensure scalability, reliability, and security of cloud environments
  • Implement and manage Azure Policy to enforce governance and compliance standards across cloud environments
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or Bicep 

(CI/CD) Pipeline Automation:


  • Develop and optimize Azure DevOps YAML pipelines for seamless CI/CD automation
  • Automate testing, code quality enforcement, and deployment workflows across all environments
  • Enforce Azure DevOps branch policies and manage version control in Git, ensuring high code quality through peer reviews
  • Manage dependencies and containerized deployments using Azure Artifacts, container registries, and Helm charts for AKS

Monitoring and Logging:


  • Collaborate with the NOC on monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Prometheus, and DynaTrace to ensure full visibility into applications and infrastructure
  • Analyze performance metrics and logs to proactively scale resources and optimize Azure infrastructure costs

Collaboration and Support:


  • Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline development and release processes
  • Provide guidance and technical support in troubleshooting system issues, outages, and performance bottlenecks

Security and Compliance:


  • Implement best practices for security, compliance, and governance across the cloud and database environments
  • Enforce secure access controls, implement data encryption, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)

Requirements

Required Qualifications


The following skills represent the minimum requirements to be considered for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps, including Azure cloud services and Azure DevOps tools
  • Experience implementing security best practices in Azure environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps, including CI/CD automation, release pipelines, and work item management
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or Bicep
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, DynaTrace, Log Analytics, or similar
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation

Preferred Skills


The following skills represent additional proficiencies preferred to be successful in this position:

  • Experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation
  • Azure Front Door, WAF, and Application Gateway experience
  • Experience with Azure Site Recovery and Backup solutions
  • Commercial SaaS application delivery experience
  • SonarQube implementation and administration experience
  • Network methodology, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
  • ITIL experience and Microsoft certifications
