Position Summary:
Performs duties required to unload raw materials, load lithium-based products and transfer products utilizing tankers, ISO containers, various sized cylinders and rail cars.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participates on the PERT team as an entry member.
- Perform daily checks for the SO facility and report any findings to the Material handling Crew Leader
- Contains and cleans-up hazardous waste spills.
- Handles hazardous wastes during generation, transport, storage, or spill response activities. .
- Performs standard duties related to fire suppression, fire prevention, hazard spill response, emergency response, and rescue operations (PERT).
- Completes all applicable permits and job walk-downs for Maintenance and Contractor work (i.e. Lockout/Tag-out, Safe Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Break, etc.).
- Enters near miss or incident reports into Cority database. Takes appropriate action to resolve then provides sufficient detail to enable root cause analysis through an incident investigation.
- Responsible for maintaining 5S standards in production areas and shipping warehouse.
- Complies with all circuit, regulatory, and safety training.
- Responsible for inspection and upkeep of safety related equipment.
- Handles solid and hazardous waste, i.e., place waste materials in suitable containers and/or transport waste containers to appropriate on-site storage areas or onto trucks for shipment.
- Participates and supports Process Safety activities including but not limited to risk assessments, preventive maintenance activities, pre-start up safety reviews, Management of Change initiation, work permit activities, and standard operating procedure reviews/updates.
- Safely operate a forklift for loading and unloading trailers, moving pallets and cylinders
- Assist in unloading raw materials and loading lithium based products into cylinders, trailers and ISOs
- Assist with water washing cylinders, trailers and ISOs
- Drives flatbed truck and/or tractor to move Hazardous and non-Hazardous material from area to main Plant site and from Plant to SO
- Scrape, paint and label cylinders
- Perform daily checks for the SO facility and report any findings to the Crew Supervisor
- Perform PMs and other routine maintenance tasks as needed and applicable
- Accurately complete shipping paperwork and records
- Assist in inventory counts
- Observes process variables using gauges and instruments and adjusts valves and controls to set and maintain specified operating ranges required for loading/offloading.
- Observes processing and auxiliary equipment to detect malfunctions then repairs or submits a request for repairs.
- Samples and tests or submits requests for tests of raw materials and finished goods samples using LQM
- Water washes cylinders, trailers and ISOs
- Accurately complete shipping paperwork and records.
- Responsible to ensure proper packaging and labeling per customer and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible to keep personal training up to date.
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Chemical or industrial experience preferred.
- Must have or obtain a CDL class A license within 1 (one) year from date of hire.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Skilled in the operation of packaging/conveying equipment.
- Uses the computer to accurately enter information and data into Livent business systems (LQM, SAP, Hang Tag, Cority, MOC, CPAR, SBO, SharePoint).
- Uses effective oral and written communication.
- Uses MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and VMX to communicate all work instructions, circuit and order statuses, and job assignments.
- A CDL with Hazmat endorsement is preferred
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally roll drums weighting up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision and depth perception.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions and extreme cold.
