Pay Rate:
The expected starting base pay for this role is USD $70,000-$75,000.00 per year. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
SUMMARY
Fujitsu Frontech is seeking a Solutions (Sales) Engineer, for our Self-Service Retail Products Portfolio, handling both hardware and software. This role is a key resource aligned to and supporting our Retail Industry Client Executives for dedicated support to a large customer with on-site presence. Solutions Engineers at Fujitsu, perform a myriad of duties before and during Sales cycles to bring clarity, cohesion, and simplicity to Fujitsu’s capabilities to enable and deliver a Retail experience utilizing the breadth of our Software and Hardware capabilities.
The Solutions Engineer is an extension of our Product Teams for Applications & Hardware and must be able to take technical and operational topics and make them accessible and consumable by individuals who are not experts. Knowledge of operational retail environment is key to drive business improvements & advantage to our customers. The position requires a mix of knowledge and skills across a broad range of disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software technologies as well as project management both internally and with the customer’s team. This extends into understanding the customer’s workflow and processes, and training the customer in implementing, integrating and operating our retail products. We are looking for a motivated, accomplished professional to coordinate and work with customer technology and operations team members balancing their needs/wants with what we can provide. This position requires excellent communication skills, time and quality management skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and high-paced work environment. Customers rely on our ability to understand their operations and bring expert solutions, and we rely on the unique field insights you bring back to the sales and engineering teams to drive product and solution ideas.

Essential Functions of the position include, but are not limited to;
- In line with Fujitsu S3 strategy around modularity, delivers applicable hardware and software components part of our existing portfolio or research new components, to deliver the right Fujitsu Solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Participates and drives Solutions delivery for RFI/RFP responses & presentations for all new opportunities.
- For established clients, continues to nourish and grow the daily relationship with clients via personalized, scheduled, & ad hoc communications and site visits where appropriate, as well as attend all QBRs (Quarterly Business Review).
- Conducts software testing for new releases and functionality.
- For key customers, coordinates testing in both lab and store environments.
- Assists in long-term testing to ensure the reliability of new implementations.
- Creates reports to monitor and measure key criteria for enterprise deployments.
- Monitors ongoing projects and publishes updates to key customers and Fujitsu teams.
- Creates & Delivers oral presentations / discussions which will document the technical, functional, and operational capabilities of our technology Solutions sets.
- Conducts workshop style architecture sessions with clients to discover key business and technical requirements, then record, interpret, and finally outline those key requirements.
- Ships and Receives demo hardware and Solutions as need be, while maintaining accurate asset inventory.
- Assists in the deeper definition of functional requirements, Solutions fit, and creation of Solutions kits & PINs for quoting. Has a deep understand of the entire portfolio and associated options is required in order to derive the most appropriate PIN documentation.
- Communicates regularly with the client, during pilot and transition to our internal logistics team and inside sales for the full roll-out to ensure delivery of the Solutions.
- Serves as Technical escalation point of contact from clients to Fujitsu.
- On occasion, provides technical support of Fujitsu’s tradeshow events to include equipment setup and teardown, and presentation/discussion with prospective customers.
- Works with Fujitsu engineering & sustaining engineer teams to ensure technical issues are documented and escalated for resolution to the customer’s satisfaction.
- Works closely with Product Management in the life cycle management of the product/device for Software & Hardware roadmap to keep customers well informed.
- Documents the technical requirements and business benefits for new custom customer requirements.
- Provides software support – in addition to a mostly hardware centric responsibilities, there are numerous software support duties, which include (but not limited to) U-Scan self-checkout software, Mobile Device Software, Alert Management Software, Automated Software Maintenance, Non-Bar Code Editor, Access Control, etc.
- Conducts testing of Retail Solutions, both Hardware and Software. Documents and formulates Solutions and/or recommendations.
- Travels to support sales/customers up to 75% of the time.
- Customarily and regularly exercises independent discretion and judgment.
- Regular work site attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use of Fujitsu Frontech support website for downloading software and exchanging technical documentation / information.
- Provides detailed reports from customer visit and technical reviews.
- Provides work instructions to customers and their service partners to install and support Fujitsu products.
- Coordinates with Fujitsu factory requirements for staging systems by customer
- Adheres to company policies, ISO requirements, safety, and quality
- Supports continual improvement efforts

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Computer Science from a four-year college or university; or 5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 8+ years in Pre-Sales Consulting, Business Consulting, Business or similar Solutions Engineering roles. Retail Industry Experience – Required / Self Check-Out Experience - Preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Demonstrate ability to effectively use computer and applicable computer software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience with hardware configuration and software. Strong understanding, ability to navigate and manage various operating systems, inclusive of Windows, Linux, etc.

Required Location: Boise/Nampa, Idaho area
TRAVEL
Must be able and willing to travel: minimum of 1 trade show per year and customer support both Canada and in the USA from time to time. Willing to travel by plane to locations in other states/countries. Travel is mostly within North America, but some extended travel beyond North America could occur from time to time.
