About the Team:
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer with an affinity for solving tough problems to join the Cookin engineering team. Cookin is building the “Shopify for Food Creators” and we want to do it with passionate creators like you.Cookin’s mission is to empower independent food creators to start and/or run their business effectively with best-in-class tooling. We aim to provide a unified, simple, and delightful platform for running an independent food business. Whether that’s operating out of a home kitchen or a commercial kitchen, our goal is to make running a food business a breeze, so cooks can focus on what they’re best at: making incredible food.Cookin was recently acquired by CookUnity! Together, we’re creating a culinary ecosystem where chefs at any stage of their journey can build successful businesses outside of traditional paths.
The Role:
You’ll work closely with our small but mighty engineering and product team to move fast and build the best tooling for independent chefs on the market. Come join an all-star team of tech talent, consisting of former Apple and Wealthsimple engineers.This is a hybrid position based in Toronto. Our office is located in The Annex in Toronto, near the University of Toronto.
Our Tech Stack:
- On the backend: Kotlin + Micronaut and Typescript + NodeJS, AWS or Google Cloud, Postgres, Supabase, Temporal.
- On the frontend: React Native, React, NextJS, TypeScript, and Tailwind.
- Other tools: Notion, GitHub Actions, Linear, Slack.
Responsibilities:
- Building beautiful user experience-driven mobile application features using React Native + TypeScript.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to build a new mobile app project in the Cookin ecosystem from scratch.
- Sharing your ideas, knowledge, and experience during discussions, code reviews, and other collaborative forums.
- Dealing well with ambiguity and quickly evolving priorities.
- Being self-motivated and eager to learn new things.
- Having fun with a small and super-talented team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Have several years of experience building, shipping, and operating web and/or mobile applications in production. You have seen what works, and probably a few things that didn’t work.
- Passion for shipping world-class products that solve problems for our users (both cooks and customers).
- You have excellent communication skills and are able to thrive on small, collaborative engineering teams.
- You're a self-starter who can approach ambiguous problems and decide on a direction to take them.
Preferred Requirements:
- Web experience with ReactJS + NextJS or a willingness to learn.
- Some previous experience in an early-stage startup (Series A or earlier).
- Excited about uniting people through food!

Compensation
All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
