The Lead Mechanic will be apart of a team that performs maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including oil changes, tune-ups, tire inspections, brake checks, and spark plug replacements.
- Conduct general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel, and propane-powered engines, including automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other mechanical equipment, both on-site and in the garage.
- Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and perform repairs according to manufacturer specifications, including work on engines, transmissions, clutches, suspensions, steering, fuel and ignition systems, electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems.
- Replace essential vehicle components such as batteries, starters, lights, valves, hoses, belts, and alternators.
- Perform test drives to verify that repairs are completed properly and ensure vehicles are operating safely.
- Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure tools are returned to their proper locations.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of replacement parts, tools, and equipment.
- Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs for all vehicles and equipment.
- Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems as needed.
- Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to enhance vehicle safety, productivity, and longevity.
- Provide roadside service when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using power and hand tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret service and repair manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Capability to respond to roadside service calls when required.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in vehicle maintenance and repair required.
Position Type & Work Schedule:
- Full-time, non-exempt position.
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexibility required as job duties demand.
