Senior Director, Product Design

Summary:


The Sr. Director of Product Design will lead the design of intuitive and impactful digital experiences that support both external users, such as physicians managing genetic tests, and internal users in laboratory and healthcare workflows. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers and Software Engineers, to drive design strategies and ensure seamless, user-centered solutions across our platforms. Your work will help shape products that are efficient, easy to use, and deeply aligned with the needs of healthcare providers, patients, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:


User-Centered Design & Research:


  • Lead user research efforts to gather insights into physician workflows, pain points, and needs related to genetic testing and healthcare operations.
  • Conduct usability testing and data analysis to drive design decisions and iterate on product experiences.
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals that validate concepts and drive better user outcomes.
  • Ensure all design work is accessible, intuitive, and optimized for the target audience.

Collaboration & Product Thinking:


  • Work closely with Product Managers to define and prioritize features, ensuring designs solve the right problems for users.
  • Partner with Engineering teams to ensure design feasibility, smooth implementation, and the seamless integration of new features.
  • Advocate for usability and user-centered design across all digital touchpoints, ensuring a consistent and high-quality customer experience.

Prototyping & Experimentation:


  • Lead rapid prototyping efforts, iterating designs based on customer feedback and testing.
  • Run A/B tests and analyze results to refine user interfaces and interactions.
  • Participate in product discovery efforts to identify new opportunities and validate design directions through experimentation.

Design System & Consistency:


  • Contribute to and evolve the design system, ensuring design consistency across products, platforms, and user interfaces.
  • Define and document interaction patterns that are scalable and adaptable across multiple product lines and user interfaces.

Skills:


  • Ability to take full ownership of design projects from discovery and ideation to final implementation.
  • Strong experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on product and design goals.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Miro
  • Strong understanding of accessibility (WCAG), usability best practices, and responsive design principles.
  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows, clinical environments, and the unique challenges faced by users in these contexts.

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer Interaction, marketing, or a related field.

Experience:


  • 8+ years of experience in Product Design, UX/UI Design, with a proven portfolio showcasing user-centered design thinking, problem-solving, prototyping, and visual design expertise.
  • 3+ years leading teams of product, digital, graphic, or UIUX designers.
  • Proven ability to lead design teams, provide mentorship, and align cross-functional teams around user-centered design strategies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:


  • Frequently required to sit, stand, utilize hand and finger dexterity, talk, or hear.
  • Occasionally required to travel to various company locations, client sites, or industry events.
