Senior Director Maintenance and Repair

The Senior Director, Maintenance and Repair will oversee the maintenance and repair operations for a designated region, managing approximately 35 field employees across multiple chassis terminals.  This role requires a balance of strategic and tactical leadership to ensure operations efficiency, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness.  The Senior Director will be responsible for budgeting, process improvements, vendor negotiations, and customer engagement while ensuring collaboration across key internal departments.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Leadership & Oversight: Provide strategic and tactical direction to the regional maintenance and repair teams, ensuring high performance, operational efficiency, and adherence to company objectives.
  • Team Management: Responsible for a team of approximately 35 management and field employees, overseeing staffing, training, and performance to maintain a high level of service.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations related to chassis maintenance and repair, including AAR, DOT, FMCSA, etc.
  • Budget Management: Develop, manage, and optimize regional maintenance and repair budgets, ensuring cost control while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, meet chassis readiness and other company performance goals.
  • Vendor & Terminal Agreements: Oversee and negotiate contracts with port and rail terminals, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Customer Engagement: Participate in customer meetings, including quarterly business reviews, to understand needs, address concerns, and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with logistics, finance, accounting, legal, and other internal departments to align maintenance and repair strategies with overall business goals.
  • Special Projects: Lead and contribute to special projects as assigned, driving innovation and strategic initiatives within the maintenance and repair function.

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in chassis maintenance and repair, transportation, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in managing maintenance and repair operations across multiple locations.
  • Extensive experience with federal and state regulatory compliance, including safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget planning, management, and cost control.
  • Expertise in process improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Experience participating in high-level customer meetings and business reviews.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

$170-$200k - Salary commensurate with experience.
