The company is headquartered in Peachtree Corners, GA, a suburb of Atlanta Georgia, with regional teams across the United States.Job Summary:Alogent is seeking an initiative-taking, hands-on, and experienced Controller to build and manage the company’s accounting organization. The Controller will be responsible for leading all aspects of accounting, including managing the monthly close process, overseeing compliance with tax and statutory requirements, and offering critical financial insights to support the company’s growth.
This high impact and visibility role will report to Alogent’s CFO and will be a valuable strategic leader who will be expected to drive best practices and process improvement within the department. The ideal candidate is a dynamic people leader who enjoys taking a hands-on approach to accounting and financial management, is a creative problem solver with a proven ability to build and manage scalable financial processes and focuses on scale and actionable data while emphasizing accuracy and standardizing processes.Important Note: Applicants for employment in the United States must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Alogent.Success Factors:The successful candidate will navigate the five pillars below independently while managing weekly, monthly, and quarterly deliverables along with ad-hoc requests as they arise. Managing the current team of 7 team members with a constant focus on development, building and executing repeatable and scalable processes, and managing attrition and succession is paramount. The five (5) pillars are detailed below:Responsibilities:(1) Team Leadership: o Manage a team of 5-7 resources with responsibility for general ledger, AP/AR, and billing.
o Drive a collaborative environment including a regular cadence of 1:1s, team meetings, and open-door policy.o Manage month-end, quarter end, and year end calendars with an emphasis on urgency while maintaining accuracy and transparency.(2) General Ledger Management:o Responsible for the integrity of the financial statements to by ensuring proper controls are in place. o Conducting thorough review of cash flow, revenue and expense recognition, P&L variances, balance sheet reconciliations and variances with regular feedback to the CFO and CEO.o Perform research in Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) to decide proper treatment of various accounting matters.(3) Financial Systems & Processes:o Design and implement scalable accounting workflows, best practices, and consistent processes.o Drive continuous improvement in the company’s ability to use its financial systems, processes, and tools to support continued scalability and improved efficiency.o Serve as primary system administrator for Sage Intacct, including reviewing release notes, ensuring proper updates, maintenance, and configuration, and implementing best practices to use full capabilities of the system.(4) Compliance & Governance:o Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations in the geographies where Alogent operates including, but not limited to payroll tax, sales tax, state withholding taxes, and quarterly and annual.o Lead the annual audit including coordinating with external auditors, preparing documentation, and responding to audit inquiries.(5) Cross-functional Collaboration:o Work closely with other departments, including Finance, Portfolio Management Office (PMO), Operations, Sales, and Human Resources (HR), to ensure financial processes support overall business goals. - Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance with private-equity-backed or high-growth software/technology company and at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA/MBA preferred but not required.
- Experience with enterprise accounting software – Sage Intacct preferred.
- Prior experience with Financial Services including Banking and/or Payments preferred.
- Proven expertise in financial reporting, accounting processes, and internal controls.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and people management abilities.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities.
- Proactive self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions:
- This is a hybrid role – 3 days in Peachtree Corners, GA office: 2 days remote.
- This position may require you to occasionally work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
