Since our council’s inception in 2005, we have served over 12,000 participants in DFW. Position ProfileThe Girls on the Run® Program Coordinator (PC) must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades.

 The Girls on the Run program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living which includes an introduction and education on important topics such as goal setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect, while training for a 5K event.   The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and harness the inner strength that they possess.  Our important mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind, while reducing the many risks they face today.This role provides pivotal support to the program and 5Ks, collaborating with the team to effectively deliver the program, support coaches, and coordinate events throughout the season.

This role will also contribute to volunteer management and logistics in partnership with the 5K team. The Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.Some of the key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Volunteer Recruitment, Management and Training

  • Ensure all program sites are staffed with qualified volunteer coaches
  • Support Executive Director with coach training
  • Manage volunteer database recruitment campaigns including applications, background checks, Girls on the Run training, CPR & First Aid, and other requirements.
  • Enforce all current coaching policies and procedures and generate continuous improvement
  • Implement effective volunteer recruitment, retention and appreciation strategies for program and 5K volunteers
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with diverse community organizations, running groups, and other stakeholders to broaden coach and volunteer involvement with Girls on the Run
  • Support all aspects of volunteer registration, communication, and training, including logistics and facilitation 
  • Reinforce adherence to program policies and procedures, collect feedback and generate innovation and improvements as needed

Program Outreach and Site Management

  • Work with marketing committee and to develop and execute a strategy to promote GOTR DFW across various social media platforms
  • Build relationships with school partners and volunteers throughout the region to grow and retain the number of sites hosting programs and volunteers supporting teams
  • Coordinate outreach and host dynamic informational sessions with schools, school/community groups and partner organizations to recruit them to host Girls on the Run programs and support participant registration 
  • Support the administrative pieces of program implementation including: program supplies inventory; participant, coach, and site registration information in the data management system; program metrics and evaluation
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for school staff, volunteers and parents/caregivers 
  • Maintain database/systems for tracking and stewarding potential and active program sites to reach site growth goals aligned with the strategic plan

Curriculum/Equipment Management

  • Purchase and distribute all curriculum materials including coach boxes, coach manuals, healthy snacks and program equipment
  • Manage inventory and distribution of coach and program curriculum, materials and supplies

Other Event Coordination

  • Assist in organizing volunteers to represent GOTR DFW at events and make sure volunteers have the needed materials and training to speak about the organization
  • Work with Executive Director and board to Identify and implement opportunities for the community to engage with the Girls on the Run mission, including program site visits, speaking engagements, volunteering, give-back/community appreciation events and collaborative opportunities with other mission-aligned groups/non-profits 
  • Represent GOTR at community events and expos, such as 5Ks community events, back to school fairs, to advance the GOTR mission and goals around positive youth development, girl empowerment and health/wellness

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of project management experience, or other non-profit experience
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)
  • Demonstrated experience with project management and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under time constraints to meet deadlines
  • Cultural competence to work with, teach, and lead groups of diverse adults and children in respectful, equitable, and inclusive ways; commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive environment in all spaces
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Computer competence, including but not limited to Microsoft office, data management programs, Google applications, Dropbox and email
  • Ability to travel independently throughout DFW using a personal vehicle for site visits or trainings/professional development and Girls on the Run events
  • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs) or previous non-profit experience in volunteer/event management
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds and work physically moving race supplies and program supplies
  • Background check required
  • Comfortable in a hybrid work environment including remote and in-person work at our office in Farmers Branch. General working hours are 9-2, with flexibility on days.
  • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings and special events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Non-profit management experience
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors
  • Connections to the local community and schools

Compensation & Work EnvironmentThis is a part-time, 20 hour a week position with a range of $18-$20 per hour. Girls on the Run DFW offers a company laptop and mileage reimbursement.The candidate must be locally based in DFW area and be able to reliably engage in the following: 

  • Local travel to office in Farmers Branch as needed
  • Frequent in-person and virtual interactions in community
  • High speed internet access required to access systems and communication tools

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event.
