The Junior Estimator position involves supporting accurate cost estimation and project planning for various construction projects. The role requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual eager to learn and grow within the field of construction management. The candidate will work closely with chief estimator, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.

Essential functions:


  • Read and interpret project plans, ensuring compatibility with drawings and specifications.
  • Set up new projects and maintain ongoing projects within the Procore system.
  • Prepare and issue Invitations to Bid, track bid status, and provide updates to the team.
  • Manage the pre-qualification process for new subcontractors and verify bid status throughout the process.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Initiate calls to subcontractors for pricing, follow up as needed, and process received quotes/proposals.
  • Respond to subcontractor inquiries during the bid process and escalate complex issues to the Chief Estimator when necessary.
  • Perform takeoffs using the On-Screen Take-Off program as directed by the Chief Estimator.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather detailed information for accurate cost evaluations.
  • Utilize MS Excel and departmental standards/forms to create and manage estimates effectively.
  • Prepare scopes of work and assist in the bid leveling process using standard scope sheets during the bidding phase.

Education and Experience Requirement(s):


  • Minimum 1 year of Construction Estimating experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (or actively pursuing).

Knowledge/Skills Requirement(s):


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Organized and focused.
