Job Profile Summary
The Hospital Price Transparency Analyst will work with the content team and the development team to maintain and optimize automated processes related to the Hospital Price Index™ tool, including but not limited to, analyzing hospital claims data, auditing the results for data integrity, and resolving identified data issues. The HPI Business Analyst will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the proprietary HPI rule engine to ensure optimal client experience and compliance with current industry regulations.
Additionally, the HPI Business Analyst will work with the client success team during implementation of the product to ensure that service level agreements are met.
What you'll own in this role:
- Maintains established proprietary HPI rule engine to ensure that product is compliant with current regulations and code sets.
- Audits HPI results after data parsing and works with development team to resolve any identified data issues.
- Creates HPI reports in a client-friendly format following confirmation of data integrity.
- Evaluates the need for and participates in the development of future HPI product enhancements, including defining acceptance criteria and translating user-level requirements into a logical design that meets compliance requirements.
- Tests development work to assure accuracy of and consistency with product specifications.
- Answers product questions from project management, product implementation consultants, marketing, and sales teams in addition to client questions.
- Keeps abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and code changes; applies this information appropriately to ensure integrity of HPI product.
- Supports other departments by providing relevant input and industry expertise to optimize the client experience.
What you'll bring to this role:
- Advanced awareness and understanding of government regulations and resources impacting hospital price transparency rules.
- Practical knowledge of healthcare provider business processes including, but not limited to the following: clinical coding, chargemaster management, charge capture, billing and charge reconciliation.
- Able to consistently interpret and apply official regulatory guidelines to real-world scenarios.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work and address objectives with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, i.e., able to handle and resolve issues or objections diplomatically and respectfully.
- Able to write well-reasoned responses to client questions using official regulatory resources.
- Able to organize and present content in a clear and concise manner.
- Flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing working environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Active coding certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred
Preferred Experience and Education
- High-school diploma (or GED equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years inpatient/outpatient combined coding and/or billing experience in a healthcare environment.
Information Security and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with training directives required by the organization pertaining to Information Security, Acceptable Use Policy and HIPAA Privacy and Security.
- Adhere to and comply with the organizations Acceptable Use Policy.
- Safeguard information system assets by identifying and reporting potential and actual security events to the organizations Security and Compliance Officers.
