About the role


As a Lead Product Designer for Terraform, you’ll bring and maintain a focus on user experience across Terraform and other infrastructure applications that Terraform integrates with. You will be exploring workflows that span across different user interfaces including the web, command line, version control systems, and API. You’ll discover and specify strategic opportunities for improvement through generative research. You’ll inform product strategy, shape product design vision and direction and drive alignment across the team, and conduct evaluative research to recommend the best path forward. In this role, you’ll partner closely with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to envision innovative workflows for provisioning and deploying infrastructure over multiple public and private clouds, and improve the user experience measurably. You will craft usable, useful, valuable, accessible, and delightful experiences for platform engineering teams, developers, and their organizations.  You’ll guide, mentor, and collaborate with product designers across the team to ensure alignment.

In this role, you can expect to:


  • Drive discovery and user research efforts with generative research, concept testing, usability testing, and user analytics.
  • Lead your teams to adopt a wide range of research methods, leading a community of practice to help with continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Coordinate brainstorms, ideation sessions, workshops, design sprints, and other activities with your teams to align on design direction.
  • Collaborate closely with multiple product and engineering teams to set priorities, goals, and roadmaps, and help guide product innovations from early concepts to GA release.
  • Partner with engineers on feasibility, responsiveness, and details of design specification.
  • Partner with product managers to discover and align on market needs and business goals. 
  • Lead the solution of a high-impact product area that connects to a broader product vision and spans multiple teams. 
  • Exercise significant, sound, independent judgment to determine appropriate action within established processes and proactively make recommendations on how to evolve them.
  • Work iteratively in an agile environment, adapting quickly to user and stakeholder feedback to refine and enhance designs.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine and prioritize new features and enhancements critical to the success of HashiCorp customers and community.
  • Proactively collaborate with and mentor other designers, share your work regularly to inform and inspire across the organization, and provide thoughtful, kind, and actionable feedback in design critique sessions.

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$215,900—$254,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in California (excluding SF Bay Area), New York (excluding NYC), Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, Washington D.C., or Maryland is:$198,000—$232,900 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro), Illinois, Minnesota, or Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$179,900—$211,700 USD“HashiCorp is an IBM subsidiary which has been acquired by IBM and will be integrated into the IBM organization.
