Primary Function:
The Foam Milling CNC Machinist is responsible for their FRESAT milling machine, the first of its kind produced by Protek in the US. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to become the lead machinist of this unique equipment.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary Machinist of the FRESAT milling machine for custom foam insert production.
- Perform daily equipment checks and minor preventative maintenance to ensure safe operation.
- Interpret and execute work orders based on engineering drawings, schematics, and CAD files.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency in producing foam inserts for a wide range of specialty products.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and others to align production expectations and deadlines.
- Manage time and resources to ensure consistent throughput and timely completion of projects.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years’ Experience working with CNC Mills ideally on foam products or other unique materials.
- Must have working knowledge of CNC equipment to perform troubleshooting to ensure that the products meet engineering requirements.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high safety standards.
- Comfort in a light industrial setting with open bay doors and a small, collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CAD software and ability to interface with drawings and design files.
- Experience with programmable milling machines or CNC equipment.
- Exposure to niche machinery or brands within the packaging or materials processing industries.
- Technical curiosity and ability to adapt to evolving equipment configurations.
Work Environment
Shop:
Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
