VDC/BIM Engineer

The operations team at Rugged Robotics is responsible for deploying our robot in the field and providing the service of automated construction layout with speed, precision, and reliability.
As a VDC/BIM Engineer on the operations team, you will help the team successfully innovate new tools to streamline and improve the CAD processing pipeline and be a key enabler for our company’s success. You will also help process customer CAD data for our current and future layout robots to successfully deliver accurate and valuable layout information in the field.
The Role
- Implement plugins and scripts in Revit and AutoCAD to improve processing efficiency and accuracy
- Innovate novel workstreams as new print features are requested by our customers
- Work within Revit and AutoCAD to ingest customer CAD data and process it for our automated layout robot
- Represent the company by coordinating with customer VDC teams to ensure we are receiving the right data at the right time
- Work closely with our customers to improve their data pipelines and push the construction industry forward
You Are
- Comfortable working with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to process and manipulate CAD data
- Excited to create Autodesk scripts and plugins to improve efficiency and automate pieces of the CAD processing pipeline
- Driven to improve things around you, and excited to identify, refine and/or implement improvements to company processes and customer experience
- An excellent communicator and able to communicate effectively with customer VDC teams, the internal operations team, and the rest of the engineering organization at Rugged
- Deeply familiar with the construction industry
- Passionate about delivering a product and a service that exceeds the customer’s expectations
- Eager to learn new technologies, want to grow as an individual as our organization grows, and comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Excited to travel to customers' job sites to see the delivery of the printed layout, build relationships, and learn from the customer
Great to Have
- Experience with field layout for interior installation work including drywall/framing
- Knowledge of construction surveying basics and current technology
- Familiar with any software language, with a preference for Python
