Regional Business Manager - Eastern U.S.

Summary


The Regional Business Manager plays a primary role in generating new product sales and managing business relationships with existing and new customers helping to further the adoption of the Bionano technology.This position will cover the Eastern U.S. territory.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute Bionano’s sales strategy in order to meet or exceed revenue and product placement goals within the defined region.  
  • Effectively and accurately prospect and generate new customer leads.  
  • Deliver technical / scientific seminars and presentations on Bionano’s products, including their capabilities and application usage.  
  • Represent the company at national, regional and local trade shows/conferences including events / seminars.  
  • Provide timely and accurate product sales forecast.  
  • Provide market and user related information to Marketing and assist in developing key sales tools.  
  • Engage in accurate utilization and maintenance of the Company’s customer database (CRM). 

  • Coordinate resources from internal and external to meet the goal for marketing events and sales revenue/metrics.
  • Optimize sales channel within the defined region.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities


  • Significant technical/laboratory experience in the genetics field or 3+ years of sales experience in Life Science capital equipment, consumables, software or services sales. 
  • Well-developed professional and/or strategic sales skills with demonstrated ability to conduct complex application focused conversations.
  • A strong command of scientific knowledge in order to engage in a collaborative sales process, presentations and seminars. 
  • Proven track record with winning business and establish long term customer relationships.  
  • Ability to travel and work independently or remotely.  

Education, Certifications, Licenses


  • Education (Level and field of study) required/ preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences required.  Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Years relevant/ total work experience: At least 3 years of sales experience in Life Science capital equipment, software and/or consumable sales or a related field required.
  • Certifications required/ preferred:  N/A

Additional Requirements 


  • Work Location:  US – Remote 
  • Travel Requirements:
  • 30-60% of travel time expected. Will vary by business needs, ranging from weeks where most work is completed from home office to weeks 100% on the road.
  • Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 
  • Sit and stand for prolonged periods 
  • Repeating motions that may include the hands, wrists and/or fingers 
  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
  • Stand and/or move about the office or in various environments, or from one worksite to another
  • Specific visual abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus, read, review, and assess the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned
  • Verbal abilities require communicating with others to exchange information
  • Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions
  • In-person interaction with others indoors and outdoors
  • Operating and driving motor vehicles; prolonged periods of sitting while driving
  • Use standard computer, telephone and related equipment for communication, and recordkeeping
  • Able to travel, including international travel, without personal assistance
