Overview:
We are seeking a Network Administrator with an active Secret (S) clearance to support and maintain a Wireless LAN environment for the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, VA. This onsite role will focus on monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing a complex network infrastructure built primarily on Aruba technology. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth experience with Aruba ClearPass, WLAN Controllers, CX Switching, and EdgeConnect, along with a strong background in firewalls and general networking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the Aruba Wireless LAN environment, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Aruba ClearPass for network access control (NAC) and policy enforcement.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Aruba WLAN Controllers and Aruba CX Switching solutions.
- Support and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, VLAN configurations, and security policies.
- Administer firewalls, including pfSense and Palo Alto, ensuring proper security rules, VPN configurations, and network segmentation.
- Manage Aruba EdgeConnect for SD-WAN optimization and ensure reliable connectivity across naval networks.
- Implement and maintain network security best practices in compliance with DoD and Navy cybersecurity policies.
- Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to enhance network performance and security posture.
- Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret (S) clearance required.
- 5+ years of experience in network administration with a focus on wireless networking and security.
- Strong expertise in Aruba technologies, including:
- Aruba ClearPass
- Aruba WLAN Controllers
- Aruba CX Switching
- Aruba EdgeConnect
- Experience with firewall administration, including pfSense and Palo Alto.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network security principles.
- Familiarity with DoD network security standards and compliance requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in high-security environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and provide technical guidance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aruba Certified Network Professional (ACNP) or Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP) certification.
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) certification.
- Experience with Navy or DoD networks and STIG compliance.
- Experience with automating network tasks via scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.).
Work Environment & Conditions:
- Onsite position in Norfolk, VA at a U.S. Navy facility.
- May require on-call support and occasional travel to naval installations.
