We have a Business Development Leadership position available in Raleigh, NC. This person will be focusing on developing new business opportunities for WM targeting the Life Sciences market, where we offer design and construction support for industrial controls, electrical and power engineering, mechanical engineering, system integration, and delivery of systems.This person will grow WM's control system integration services and systems sales, focusing on large Life Sciences industry process clients, leverage our expertise in DCS or PAC systems, including equipment and subcontracted services, development of PLC/HMI/SCADA applications, supply of I&C field installation services, and integration of software in the North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia areas.  This person will be based out of our office in Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities


Business development includes leveraging professional networks for new opportunities, initiating new relationships, and maintaining established relationships with clients. Duties include:

  • Establishing new client accounts through understanding client needs in support of manufacturing plant design, automation and operation. Increasing WM sales and long-term repeat business by leverage multiple business unit operations with WM.
  • Evolving leads from a variety of sources including online social networks, industry conferences, partner relationships, market reports, vendors, and other company personnel
  • Managing sales pipeline using WM CRM tools (Salesforce), including accurate reporting of account, contacts, opportunities, team tasks/activities, and follow up
  • Leveraging technical knowledge of automation products by leading controls vendors in supporting client project understanding and positioning the WM team. Knowledge of Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson/DeltaV, Schneider, ABB preferred
  • Coordinating with WM Business Unit Managers on review of opportunities, scope understanding, scheduled discussion, determining best fit, applying risk review, and evaluating budget for competitive offering to clients
  • Drafting and presenting proposals to clients on WM engineering services and integrated system offerings
  • Monitoring regional industry activity to further develop sales plans, target accounts, and forecasts for supporting Life Sciences engineering offices
  • Acting as liaison between customers, business unit, project management, and engineers as needed when project size or complexity demands
  • Supporting WM engineers and project managers with respect to new proposals, project tasks, and client issues raised, aligned our offering with client needs
  • Coordination of commercial terms with WM legal and executive management team
  • Support of annual sales budget planning including development and implementation of business plans, personnel recruitment, budget development, and control
  • Detailed review of customer orders and “hand off” of scope, schedule and budget with PO/contracts to operations/business unit personnel to ensure clear understanding of effort required

Minimum Requirements


Education


A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is preferred.  Technical degree with equivalent industry experience may be substituted. 

Experience


10 years’ experience in industry.  Successful track record of control systems solutions and/or control system integration sales in a variety of industries and clients. Knowledge of hardware and software application and design and previous experience with an A/E firm, Systems Integrator, or Engineering firm is preferred.  This person must have established local contacts and a proven plan for market penetration, expansion, and diversification.
